Build an Optimized Travel Itinerary with the Help of AI

Use AI to Make the Most Out of Your Travel Days

On an upcoming trip to Baltimore, my husband and I knew we would have one full day to spare. We opted to travel to Washington DC for the day since we haven’t ever experienced the city together.

To make the most of our full day in a city with no shortage of sites and activities, I turned to AI to build a custom itinerary. With the help of AI, I received a schedule that helped us to optimize our day while traveling around DC in a way that didn’t waste time or steps.

Below is an example of the prompt I provided to Claude:

Assume you are traveling to Washington DC for the day on November 1st. You have a rental car and are able to arrive whenever you want to. You want to experience a combination of museums, parks and national monuments throughout the day while also leaving plenty of time to travel back to Baltimore Washington Airport to return your rental car and catch your 10:00pm flight. You also need food recommendations and suggestions on cheap but safe locations to park your rental car.
In response, Claude provided me a detailed breakdown of how to spend the day in DC, factoring in items such as when museums open, the best place to be at sunset, and plenty of travel time back to the airport at the end of the day. There were options for coffee and meals conveniently located near attractions in the city at meal times, and the overall itinerary has us visiting 11 museums and monuments throughout the day.
